Yes, Puerto Peñasco also has its own Las Gaviotas. Granted, it is no comparison to the much better-known location near Rosarito Beach in Baja California. For some 40 years, that spot has been known as the crown jewel of Baja by many vacationers in nearby Southern California. But hey, you can’t go wrong with the Rocky Point version either.
If size doesn’t matter you to you, then know this. Forget about Baja. Even in Puerto Peñasco, the Las Gaviotas Resort is nowhere close in size to any of its condominium neighbors along Sandy Beach. You would be staying near the crowds. But not be a part of them.
Starting in town from the heart of Rocky Point heading west, the Las Gaviotas Resort is the first one you will see on Sandy Beach.
Built back in 1991, the complex presents as an intimate setting. The property management team is on site. Your comfort comes with 24-hour gated access and a security staff for the guests who are staying in less than 50 2-bedroom, 2-bath condos. These units feature tile floors, a kitchen with full-size appliances, and an oversized terrace.
There is one swimming pool and one jacuzzi for enjoying on the premises. In addition to being beachfront, some of these resort condos also come with a beautiful poolside view.
Most of the condo units here also feature priceless unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez. (Also known as the Gulf of California). The water’s edge is straight ahead, just a one- minute walk from the property.
Meanwhile, looking in the direction of the resort from the beach and sea, the Peñasco Del Sol hotel will be on your right. To your left,(as in the photo above) will be the location of the new Sonoran Star Resort. After that, there are views of the rest of Sandy Beach facing west. (Where the spectacular sunsets take place).
Aside from the great beachfront views and access, staying at Las Gaviotas means you are away from crowds of vacationers. But you are close to restaurants, bars, shopping, and all the amenities of Rocky Point when you want them.
